A Taste of Camp Kern
Cost includes Before & After care! Drop off as early as 7:30am and pick up by 6:00pm. Breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner are all included!
Both our First Camp and Taste of Kern programs are designed for the first-time camper. Our specially trained staff help campers adjust to life at camp, and create a caring atmosphere to ease young campers into the residential camping experience.
First Camp – Ages: 5-7

This is the perfect opportunity for first time campers to get acquainted with the magic of camp life under the careful and constant supervision of specially chosen counselors. Campers will spend Monday and Tuesday participating in day camp programming. Activities will include arts and crafts, the nature center, sports, swimming, and adventure games. On Wednesday, campers will pack their bags and move into a YMCA Camp Kern cabin for two nights of residential camping. Campers will have the opportunity to experience canoeing, nature hikes, Camp Kern’s indoor climbing wall, campfires, and group games.
Taste of Kern – Ages: 7-9

Find out everything YMCA Camp Kern has to offer in this program specially designed for first-time campers. Spend three days enjoying the amazing activities of camp including canoeing, arts and crafts, rock climbing, nature hikes, and much more. On Thursday, pack your bags and head back to camp for two nights of intense fun! Spend Thursday night under the stars experiencing a traditional camp out complete with s’mores. Friday night is just as fun with a TOK slumber party unlike any celebration you’ve been to before! Taste of Kern follows a modified schedule: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are spent at Camp and campers return home each evening. Campers are dropped off Thursday morning and spend two nights at Camp. Check out is on Saturday morning.
