The Main Camp program at YMCA Camp Kern is a world where imagination comes alive! Campers spend a magical week participating in their choice of daily activities while making friends and creating lasting memories on Camp Kern’s beautiful 485 acres.
Main Camp is divided into four villages by age. Please choose the village most suited for your camper to ensure the best cabin placement.
There is never a dull moment in Frontier Village. Each day is jam packed with exciting games and activities specially designed for Frontier Village. Counselors are trained to ensure a positive experience for younger campers.

Explorer Village Campers will enjoy a thrilling week of fun and adventure. Each week includes the traditional charm of Main Camp with Specialized programs only for Explorer Village.

Want to experience the magic of camp for two weeks or more in a row? Stay the weekend in between at Kern! The weeks must be consecutive weeks at camp. Saturday is spent relaxing from the week by going to Kings Island, The Beach, The Newport Aquarium, and many other fun excursions! Saturday ends with a movie night at camp. All campers laundry is cleaned in between weeks. Only available to campers ages 9 to 14.

During their Adventure Village experience, campers spend their days trying new activities and participating in some of Camp Kern’s most exciting events. No two days are ever the same in this fun program.

Adventure Plus is designed for the teen who still wants the Main Camp experience, but is ready for new challenges. We combine all the fun and excitement of Adventure Village, with bonus features reserved only for Adventure Plus.

Activities include canoeing, digital photography, archery, tango tower, BBs, drama, nature, radio, arts and crafts, sports, swimming, disc golf, rock climbing and many more.
Our progressive programs allow for new skill orientation each year a camper returns to camp with specialized activities for each age group. Camp Kern’s unique and exciting evening activities are bursting with energy. Games such as Under Siege, Alient Hunt, Medieval, Greek Gods, and Harry Potter Day make fantasy a reality, while building camper teamwork and leadership skills. No week at Camp Kern is complete without the traditional campfires, songs, night hikes and Camp Outs.
