Our History

We have been providing residential camp experiences since 1910, with a focus on the individual experience and growth.

Our Staff

Our senior management team consists of nine dedicated individuals with more than 132 years of combined experience at Camp Kern. Every staff member at camp is trained in CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention and Guest First customer service. Our Summer counselors come from near and far, and are rigorously selected and background checked to ensure only the very best are responsible for a child's safety and well-being. Every staff member signs a Commitment to Excellence which details our high standards and expectations.

Our Culture

Our 'Kids and Guest First Philosophy' is more than just a tagline...it is a way of life for us, dictating every decision we make from facility usage, programming, menu choices and staffing. We are proud of the intentional way we operate, with a purpose behind all we do and never settling for, "that's the way it's always been done."

Recognition / Accreditation

As a member of the YMCA of Greater Dayton we are held to the high standards that the YMCA movement demands. We voluntarily submit ourselves to extensive ACA (American Camping Association) accreditation process and adhere to all standards provided by this independent body. We have been voted Dayton's Number One Summer Camp every year since 2014, and in 2007 we were recognized in 'The Disney Way' a management novel highlighting leaders in their fields for strong management and guest focused practices.
