Volunteer at Camp
Camp Kern Volunteer Work Days
Saturday, October 12, 2024
9:00am to 4:00pm
All are welcome to help out! Anyone under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied
by an adult. Tasks will vary but could include picnic table repair, sanding and refinishing benches, constructing stairs at Elk Lodge, and repairing horse fences. You can bring your own tools or use ours (cordless drills and impact drivers will be especially helpful)! Please bring work gloves if you have them and please dress for the weather. Camp Kern will provide lunch for all. If you have any special skills such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, etc. please let us know on your RSVP, we have projects specific to your talents. We can't wait to see you at camp!

Board Volunteers
- Being part of our Volunteer Camp Kern Board is a rewarding and meaningful experience. Duties include: advising Camp Leadership on programming, marketing, strategic planning, fiscal planning and other camp related issues; being a member of one of our four Committees; participating in our Annual Campaign; recruiting new board members; introducing Camp to potential community partners. - Time Commitment: Attend 8 board meetings per year, held on 3rd Monday of the Month from 6.30pm to 8pm at Camp Kern. Volunteer at special events (Golf Outing, Arctic Dash, Phone-a-thon, work days). Participate in monthly committee meetings - 1 hour per month, times vary.

Committee Volunteers

General Volunteer Opportunities: Ongoing
- Volunteer Coordinator. Responsible for recruiting and managing Camp Kern Volunteers.
- Time commitment: Varies. Approximately 1 hour per week, any day / time of day.
- Circle K Ranch. Exercise horses, general upkeep, assist with lessons and horse shows, mucking out stalls, clearing weeds, small maintenance projects, grooming horses.
- Time commitment: Minimum 1 hour per week, any day / time of day.
- Alumni and Donor Relations. Connecting with alumni, potential sponsors and current and potential donors.
- Time commitment: Minimum 1 hour per week, any day / time of day.
- Grant Writer. Research, locate and write grants for programs, supplies and fundraising in consultation with Exec. Director.
- Time commitment: Minimum 1 hour per week, any day / time of day.
- Groundskeeper. Trail clearing, weeding, plant upkeep, mulching and possibly grass cutting.
- Time commitment: Minimum 1 hour per week, any day / time of day.
General Volunteer Opportunities: Projects
- Library Organization. Organize our 1,000 book collection into a usable system.
- Time commitment: Until project completion, any day / time of day.
- Arctic Dash Volunteer: Assist in course marking, directing runners, registration and clean up.
- Time commitment: 1st Saturday in December. 8.30am - 1pm.
- Camp Kern Phone-a-thon. Assist in calling our summer camp families to check on plans for next summer. Training, scripts and dinner will be provided! Held at Camp Kern.
- Time commitment: 5.30pm - 8pm. February. Exact Dates TBD.
